Less than a week away!,

The annual "Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show" is now open for entries. The Car entry fee is only $35 per car.
I thought it would be great if we can get a group, maybe 10 or 12, of our 914 together to exhibit as a group. In the past, groups have been allowed a little bit earlier entry for set up, allowed to display a banner or a 10x10 tent, and some goodie bag stuff.

UPDATE:

Let’s meet at 5:30 am, southeast parking lot of The Shoppes at Chino a hills, corner of Shoppes Drive and Boys Republic Drive. If you have trailer, you can enter show with it and drop car at our site.
I will be on What’s App that morning or text me at 760-625-6488.

Load in for the show begins at 6am. so I would ask that everyone be at that lot by 5:30!

Here is who we have registered so far, by screen name:

Rfoulds

ValcoOscar
Steve
RiqueMar

Sounds like a cool event for a good cause. Let me see if anyone is planning to attend from the Bay Area/North Bay. Maybe we could caravan down? beerchug.gif
ValcoOscar
Add me to the list please

O

Steve
I should also be able to attend.
SO.O.C914er
I also would like to join in on this one!! driving.gif Paul

On my watch list.

Tempting but I would trailer the car over from the PHX area. Did not enjoy driving in the LA area last time I was there for a 000 event in downtown LA. Driving a manual in that traffic, even on a Saturday was NOT enjoyable.
A friend of mine here has helped with the planning of that event for years and tried to get a group from here to go.
RFoulds
Its well short of LA. you would come in on I-10, take 60 through Riverside, South on 71 and you are there.
Cairo94507
@SKL1 - I totally agree. I have taken my car down to LA a few times and I absolutely hate LA traffic. I leave my home around 0200 and get there typically just before 0800. I stay the night at some mid-level motel and hit the road home around 0500 to get out of LA before it gets stupid- which it always does. beerchug.gif

I was born and raised here 72 years ago, and it seems that it's stupid here all the time.

Steve
Just take I5 down from Northern Cal and use the 210 to bypass LA. LA is always a mess.
RFoulds
The coordinator for the McQueen car show has been out all week. trying to get some more details but, will get back to you all next week.

TP914
Sounds good .
SKL1
RF- if you're talking to them ask if there would be a safe place to park an enclosed trailer during the event. No way I would drive it over from PHX.

Freeman Thomas (co-founder of R-gruppe) was one of the judges that year. Trophies are very unique, as these are constructed by the students in the campus industrial shops smile.gif

Freeman owns a 914-6 with a 3.2. Really great guy, and the RGruppe admits 914s into its membership.

Spoke with my friend who has worked with "The friends of Steve McQueen" for years yesterday, as he showed his RUF at the Arizona Concours, and he said if we had a group of 4 or more cars he could create a class for the show, and the kids at the Republic, who make the trophies, would make one for a 914 group...
Still not sure I'll make it myself, but I could connect any "point" person who is going to get this to happen.

God, I wished I lived in California. So many cool get togethers. Love it. Mark

This is exciting, and I'm still in. In my area, I know of at least 5-6 more - let's do it!

Hey Everyone. get registered now for the show! Link here below. On the registration form, first line is name of club. For us to be displayed together and possibly create our own class, you need to put "914 World" in this line.

jim_hoyland
when registering, does a passenger have to register too as a spectator ?
jim_hoyland
Registered, bringing bob164 from Seal Beach
RFoulds
UPDATE: I am making sure we have a group area set aside for us but it would still be best if we meet up and drive in together. since load in begins at 6am, we should meet 5:45, and head over at 6am. We will find a good location to meet.

someone asked about a passenger, and I believe they have to pay the extra spectator charge of $10.

Who has registered so far? Please sound off if you have registered with the show and will be parking with us as a group.
SO.O.C914er
So.O.C914er = Paul Heckman is registered and looking forward to this!

Not bringing a car but will be coming for the banquet on Friday night with a friend from Scottsdale and will be staying for the show on Saturday, so look forward to seeing all the cars.
There will be a special "celebration" as it is the first show since the passing of Chad McQueen.
