1974 914 had eg33 with Kennedy kit to 914 transaxle. Replaced with 2005 Subaru Impreza 5 speed. Wilwood master and Subaru slave on clutch. Lock added to the trans which inhibits rear drive. New clutch plate, throw out pinion bearing. Unfortunately the transmission appears to be in permanent clutch mode meaning I can shift into any gear without clutch and axles not engaging at all. Todd at Subaru gears thinks one of my clutch components are a mismatch. Pull this or push that. Flywheel or pressure plate or even the clutch plate and throw out could be the issue. Couple of questions. Todd sent me this:
I don't sell Subaru parts and shipping would not be worthwhile as there are plenty of Subaru parts in the states. Depending on what you already have in there, given you have an eg33 with lots of torque, I would go for a 2003 wrx turbo setup which would be a push clutch turbo fork, turbo release bearing, turbo push clutch and turbo push flywheel, that has the 2mm cut into the face to accept the turbo push clutch. End quote I don’t understand because he says the 2003 wrx turbo setup which would be a push is not a push. It’s a pull unless I’m completely missing his meaning. Bottom line is a want to purchase a complete clutch kit. Flywheel, pressure plate, clutch disk and throw out bearing that will mate to my 2005 Impreza 5 speed which is a push slave mounted on top of the trans pushing towards the back of the car. If the wrx is more capable to handle the torque than I might go that way but everything I see says the 2003 wrx turbo clutch unit is a pull. So confused. I just want to get everything mated correctly for that 2005 Impreza 5 speed on my eg33. Any thoughts are welcome Dave |
