very young man I walked past the Vasek shop in Hermosa on PCH near daily. In the showroom was a 917. I was kicked out of the show room a few times since they were tired of wiping my drool marks off the the car.
Hermosa was a haven for European performance cars. A few blocks to the north was a used dealer that had ( this is late 70s) a Ferrari Calif, a beat up gull wing and many other desirable and extremely exotic (for a kid that could barely afford my 1965 Vdub) cars. I recal the gull-wing had a sticker on the window for about the price of a new 911. All the money in the world for me then and pretty much now......at their current price. HAPPY 917 DAY! |
