Looking for help. I have tried two different flasher switches and wired in as per diagrams. I think that it has been instaled correctly. When I removed it ,I took multiple photos. They still do not work without the relay getting extremely hot. I have read that there is differences in wire color connection in relation to numbers on the switich based on year.My car is a '75. Does anybody have pics or diagrams of the proper wire connections? Thank You!
When I move my steering columb from side to side the horn goes off. The horn button works fine it's just when you move the wheel from side to side without pressing the center button, the horn goes off. Head scratcher. Thanks for any help

I am no help on the flashers (have you tried sacrificing a chicken?)

However... A loose bushing on the column will cause the horn issue. I had that problem last fall. In my case the little cheater sleeve that goes between the bearing and the column had slid up and just needed to be pushed back down. You can see this by removing the steering wheel and just look down the column.

I bet that is the problem. I had the wheel and columb apart replacing the turn signal switch behind the wheel. If i sacrifice a chicken can I fry it up later? Thanks, Jeff

When you say 'do not work' do you mean there is no flashing?
Do hazards work where all 4 external bulbs flash?
Do turnsignals work?

This is a simplified schematic of the turnsignal system in the later 914's.

The hazard switch is very simple. Power comes in at 15 or 30 and out 49 to the flasher relay.

To flash all 4 corners when pulled the switch connects 49a from the relay to both L and R sides. This also lights up the bulb in the switch.

I do not know. I know that when I pushed mine back in it still had an 1/8 inch left exposed and wouldn't go any further. Perhaps you never had one and the bearing is wearing out? Bearing is cheap but the labor to replace it is not.... Maybe somebody with experience adding the sleeve might chime in.
