I am sharing the wiring diagram I drew to run our 914-6 engine on a test stand. Perhaps this is straight-forward to others, but I had a tough time with it. Ended up ruining a new ignition coil due to an error related to wiring the CDI. Mainly that I tried to go directly from the ignition to the coil, instead of through the CDI. That was an expensive mistake. Perhaps this will save someone else some grief.
This is as stock as possible. CDI system discussion here.. Using a Zalex control box, Restoration Design engine harness and a couple home-made connectors. I ignored the alternator, tach, and oil temp for the test stand.  |

When I built my engine test stand I wired it to mate to a factory engine harness. I wired the stand just as if it was the actual chassis with a relay board to connect the two. I added a few mods for the fuel pump and a kill switch. I can also run either a cdi or msd ignition box. It was pretty straight forward to do. If you want to wire in a oil press/temp and tachometer that's easy too. I know I have some pics of my stand and will post once I find them.
