Wanted to share my latest Barn Finding column in the Porsche 356 Registry Magazine. It shows the extremes this job asks of me, one day it was 104 degrees and the another it was 2 degrees. A 100 degree spread! It was also two cool barn finds, both matching numbers that had been put away decades ago. If you're not a member of the Registry, check out the article and think of joining, it's the greatest Porsche club on the planet.

very enjoyable read.
you guys sure do get temp extremes from one end of the dial to the other 6months apart.' its way easier on the body down here. 104 F is nothing special for summer here but 2 F --- thats the sort of climate "kills" north antarcticans. coldest it gets here is single digit C. say 6 or 7. gets everyone whining and shivering and sitting on top of heaters. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) around 41-43F in your imperialistic measurements. never ever gets below freezing except in some rural areas overnight, you get a frost on the ground thats gone 1/2 an hour after the sun comes uip. keep up the good work. Cool barn finds, and dealing with "interesting" owners, alway make for good stories. Well done.
My personal temperature extremes in the same place were in central Alaska. I saw an honest 90° F one summer (maybe 92°), and easily -50° F in the winter. |

hottest day i have been through was 7 feb 2009. unforgettable.
black saturday. half the state was on fire. officially 46.4 C / 115 F. but the thermo i took outside in my lane at one point read 50 C / 122 F (in the shade). this was in central inner urban melbourne. no question of trying to work. i lay down on my studio floor and stayed there with a wet towel on me. drinking iced water. no AC. power was on and off all day anyway. thermal overloads. i can handle heat. 110F no worries. its a dry heat as the old joke goes. but at 122F thats a whole other game. you just got to go still. the whole city was still. no traffic. no one out on the streets. little mini heat vortex whirlwinds everywhere. i don't want to have a day like that ever again. coldest day i have ever been through was in chicago back in the late 80s. and man that was cold. i felt that. i forget the temp but it was minus whatever with wind chill. don't think i could stand up to winter in chicago at my age these days if i ever went back there.
