I have conflicting information on the correct oil filter in my 914/6 conversion.

It is a 1975 with a 1976 2.7L CIS. It does have a 914/6 Oil tank.

I have been told Mahle OC54 and OC61. I have both on the shelf which confuses me more.

Thanks in advance - Mike

Isn't the correct filter dictated by which oil filter console (aka bracket or standoff) you have?

Stock 914-6 oil tank has 901-107-025-00 console, that would fit 901-107-203-09 filter. This is same as used on 1965-73 911s. Not sure which Mahle that would map to.

From what I understand either of those filters OC54 or OC61 will work on a stock 914-6. I use the red Purolator PC 34 (901.107.203.10) sold by Porsche Classic

This is correct data. Here is a original 6 with the factory Purolator filter referenced. The car is running a 3.2. The stock oil tank dictates the filter needed. Recommendation is to use only Porsche filters, they have an internal bypass many aftermarkets do not.

Also have a 2.7 with stock 914-6 tank. Believe I run the OC61.

For stock console, OC-61 is the right one. Lately, I've been pushed to OC-59
by (I think) pelican. Maybe OC-61 is discontinued.

A bunch of misinformation here. The correct filter for a stock console is oc61 and for the upgraded console like what I sell should use the oc54. It has zero to do with oil lines (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) it’s all about the console

Pelican say OC 54 is for 911 and 930 ,so that must be wrong as mine is stock tank and early 911 oil console and my new spare is OC 61 ...so what is the replacement number for that filter? is it OC 59 as suggested ? ,cheers.

oc-59 is now oc-61
oc-54 later 911
But in the Conversion World ..factory parts could have been swapped around to Use either filter... ie. small thread / large thread Filters, and a possibility of why Mike has both...on the shelf ..

oc59 factory Six...yes
oc61 ..superceeded...

Like Ben said, All depends on the oil filter console that's mounted to your tank.
I know Ben and PMS made some oil filter consoles that take the OC54 filters.
I updated my oil filter console to take the later/larger oil filter OC54 and mounts on my factory 914-6 oil tank without any mods.

I don't have access to my parts right now.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Aren't the consoles identical with different interchangeable steel fitting to mount the
different filters ?

The factory did use the larger console but only for 1 or 2 years. They then went to the oil tanks that had the filter mount made into the tanks. I don't recall if you could just swap out the fittings to take the larger filter. The console maybe wider for the filter ?
I have both consoles so I'll take a look to confirm.

Yes.. 911 73 only 74- next version of 911 oil tanks, have no adapter or pressure relief bypass that takes advantage of the OC-54 higher flow feature. Porsche step stone progress ...
Sorry for the non 914-6 notes .. But it started as a Converted 914-6 ..Yes Factory Tank.. But .. its a big world out there.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/flag.gif)
