I'll need to source a set of tires for a 1.7 and was looking for ideas. I found the following performance oriented all season tires - 4 for $250. I kind of like the idea of 205/55 if that matters. Y'all think they'll be absolute junk? Are there better option in that price range... I think Nankang has some options too?

Here are the 4/$250 one:

Seems the Kumho Ecsta 4X II are a bit better, particularly in the wet, and still well priced:

I know treadwear rating is not standardized, but those two tire options have a similar rating.
I can't say whether America's Tire/Discount Tire has all options available, but you can filter by size, price, etc..., and get a good sampling of what is available.

I've been happy with the Ecsta's as budget decent performance tires. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm a fan of Vredesteins. Bought T-Tracs for my 914 as they're grippy but come in original size (165) and then bought a set of Hypertrac All-Seasons for my daily and have been impressed with those too.

I have Kumho 205/16/50's been happy with them ,cheap tyres in my country are imported to strict specs ,the govenment stepped in to make sure of that which is good ,this was a follow up from used Japanese import cars that weren't compliant as were used tyres imported by the container from the same country .
Met a guy who imported a 20ft container of used tyres trying to make a quick buck back in the early days ,25% were rejected ...he never imported anymore !!!.
Cheers.

I'm happy with the Goodyear Eagles I put on 2 years ago. I typically don't drive very hard, but did do a few laps at around 8/10 at a vintage event in 24.
