I have a 2056 and was advised I should tune my MPS for optimum performance .

I rebuilt it with CFR diaphragm kit so I could dial it in .

I have not tried to tune it yet and am wonder how my plugs look ?

I have to richen the mixture on the ECU to run well (CW).

I understand running lean will cause high heat , which could be part of my problem with high running temperatures .

They look on the rich side to me .

Plugs are in order 1-4 (#3) does not have the number on it.

They look about right to me, but you may want to be richer than OK with a 2056. These days an A/F gauge is not that expensive and you can get a bung that clamps on so you do not have to weld. Then you can chase cylinder head temps for #3.

I talked to George Hussey several years ago and as I understood it he suggested that the CHT gauge would simply frighten me most of the time. Apparently you don't have to actually melt the aluminum to cause trouble.

What Worn said. You'll need a wideband AFR kit to properly tun it.

I have to richen the mixture on the ECU to run well (CW).

If you are referring to the knob on the ECU, that is only for the idle and has no influence on normal driving (gets canceled).
If I recall, there are no adjustments on the DJet ECU.

Re: MPS tuning - this will get you to post 12 of a good thread that you might want to scroll to the top of - but the chart shown there has helped me getting my head around MPS tuning. I do have a CHT under #3 and an AFR (which i resisted for a while but has proven really really handy for tuning...)

My AFR - bluetooth so you don't have to put another gauge in:

Ron, those look pretty good.

Besides the afr and cht and the plugs, just keeping track of mpg can tell you quite a bit too.

You really have to use an AFR

Plugs are not sensitive enough to get it correct

Plus you need to read wide open throttle for real safety of the ratio (and heads). So plugs won’t work

The color of the ceramic electrode insulator is what matters.

Those look really good.
