Hello,

Is anyone else having issues shipping / order fulfillment issues with Sierra Madre? I ordered some parts (fuel line and body grommets) last week and they still have not shipped out yet. These guys are usually on top of their orders. I've pinged them a few times have been told "Yeah, they are going out today..." Yesterday they did finally print a shipping label, yet the parts have not shipped.

I ordered some choline fuel hose for the FI at the engine, two body grommets for the fuel line, and a backup light switch. All parts were listed as 'in stock/ready to ship'. These guys are in California (no adverse weather). These parts are holding up my project and I'm just not sure what's up. I called them today, they say they are open, but the message machine tells me they are closed.

I've been a loyal customer for about a decade, this is the first time they are giving me a run around. I'm wondering if they are struggling and I need to find a new supplier.

Anyone else having similar issues? Do we have any members who have contacts at Sierra Madre?

Thanks,
Ted

I am finding they have stuff listed on web, then 2-3 days later getting email NLA. 3-5 day order fill is becoming standard at other places I am using.

Yeah, dang. That's kind of what I was afraid of. At the end of the day, not a huge issue. Maybe I am just spoiled by past service and the ease of items coming from Amazon Prime.

Unfortunately that means I won't have anything to work on this weekend. :/

Now Im going to have to do yardwork!? Unacceptable.

It’s not any one supplier. It’s a problem everywhere.
It's especially frustrating when you pay for overnight shipping but they take 2-3 days to "process" the order before shipping. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif)

could be tariffs but maybe not.
down here in north antarctica i had to wait an unusually long time for some parts just for a standard service for my 914. one of the parts was the gasket for the sump plate and the other was the air filter. my supplier is in sydney and has always been very good and prompt. and they were keeping me in the loop. i had my order filled when the parts came in. which took close to a month - just for those two things.

and i checked my alternative supplier in brisbane - a VW specialist. same two parts were not in stock.

i don't know whether they source from the same centralised wholesaler or independently ship in - but suspect they are independently importing and the problem may have been at the source in europe. the parts are genuine. mann air filter and victor reinz gasket.

my guess is the supply chain on some of these parts is altering right back at the source and has to do with factory runs on parts as stocks get used up? at least in this case anyway as i have never really had to wait before for such everyday common items.

i did manage to score some good quality bosch points (made in turkey) and a spare condenser but it was beru (turkey). seems like bosch condensers are no more apparently - despite still being listed on some retail websites.

I've had similar issues with them. Oder something.. no response.. after a couple of days call them and they hunt it down and ship it. 25 years with Pelican and have only had to call them twice. With Pelican order part, get email saying order generated. Another email item shipped, another email saying delivered. I also typically get the item the next day from Pelican since i also live in So Cal.

SSF has a warehouse near you. Pelican drop ships a very large percentage of their inventory from them.
SSF actually has warehouses all over the country so shipping should be quick.

I got both of those here a couple of months back, delivered in a couple of days. Doesn’t seem to be a supply chain problem on those types of parts here anyway.

good to know source centres in europe ok.
guess it must be aus suppliers altering how they ship their stock to here.
economising due to cost of living pressures/problems.
maybe bigger shipments using sea freight.
who knows. but first time i had to wait for really basic things like an air filter.
a part that is common to a few other cars including 924s.
but then again i am trying to remember the last time i saw a 924 on the road down here.
think it was more than a year ago. another car that has virtually disappeared.
and maybe type 4 syndrome freaks out a new gen of bus owners and they only open the drain plug for an oil change. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

It could be just a matter of one or two employees calling out sick, leaving for another job, etc.
