The top center piece is part of the shifter base mechanism

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) "shift plate" or some such. Its the wear (consumable) part of the shifter (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)

For the shifter baseplate, the long thin slit in the baseplate, isn't that for the 914-6 hand throttle lever?

Thanks guys, that makes sense now because there was a shift lever in the box floating around too. Car runs fine. The box of spare parts came from the previous owner.
