Has anyone used the windshield rubber molding offered by 914 rubber in lieu of the chrome moldings. My moldings are trash and I'm thinking of going this route plus I'm blacking out all of my chrome anyway.

I hope you get some good responses on this, as I am considering this too. Also, some pics of cars with it installed would be helpful.

Its a real pain. Took me three tries. First two with butel, corners kept rolling up. Last time is with windshield urethane, it worked but what a mess.

I dont, While I supplied the glass I had a pro install it in this case for the purpose to see what was necessary / any tricks.
What I learned is they prep the seal area & glass with chemicals /paint
2. they wouldn't even consider working on a car that wasn't already in new paint condition
3. they made small pie cut in the seal at the corners so it would lie completely flat where it bends
4. they used urethane or sikaflex (I forget) to adhere.
It looked awesome on this heavily modified Adriatic Blue car.
I didn't feel it was a DIY product I could support installing so I chose not to carry them. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif)

I believe the fine print on the 914Rubber part specifies that this can not be used with butyl cord when installing the windshield back in the car.

@914werke I agree, looks awesome on that car!

Love that blue too!

What was the source for the seal material?

Thanks for the install write up. I could probably handle that myself, but I have a glass guy who's been doing just automotive glass for 40+ years, and I'll have him do it.

I'd like to have the material, so he doesn't have to source it if possible.

Thanks

Thanks for the info.
Would you happen to know if the molding was glued in and allowed to dry before adding the adhesive and then installing the windshield...either way it definitely sounds like a major task. Maybe 914 rubber has some tips too.
