This came with a recent small parts stash. The piping is for 1.7. The muffler looks like a glass pack? Don't believe it's bursch as I thought the exhaust tip is straight not flared.

Thoughts?

Garold...seems like there were other brands like "Sebring" "Monza" and other names that looked like the Bursch....and I do remember some with the flared end tip. Yes it would definitely be a glass pack. They would take a standard for the time 3 bolt flange glass pack and put a tip on it...the same 3 bolt pattern that was used on your regular hot rod headers for a Ford Chevy Mopar etc. You could buy them off of the JC Whitney catalog...Oh wow is that old...JC Whitney catalog mail order like a Harbor Freight before the I-net and etc.

Many years ago ran an exhaust very much like that one. Although, IIRC it didn't have a flared chromed end on it.

Check closely, that might be a replacement end. Glass packs don't control exhaust noise much, so it may not be the right fit if that's not your thing.

Glass packs are loud. But a better muffler could easily be fitted with the way the muffler bolts to the header.

I have that exact same muffler setup for sale, cheap. I never ran it on a car, but from looking at it, it is probably really loud.

My first Porsche was a 1970 914 1.7. Bought in 1974. First thing was to put this muffler on the car. It had the flared tip and really loud. "Thunder bird?'"
