Just a heads up.. Cip1 has their 914 fuel tanks on sale for $227 plus an extra 10% off items over $199 .. and their free shipping. That's a deal imho, wish I was ready to buy one.
ONLY 6 hours left. https://www2.cip1.com/p-914-201-010-12/ |

Always thought the Cp1 tanks were the Dansk. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

I believe the tanks are the Dansk tanks as Dansk is now part of JP Group/Empi/Classic Parts, yada yada. JP Group is big supplier of VW parts to all the Online Parts sellers.

I believe Dansk is the only supplier for new tanks. I've installed a couple of them without issue. They seem to fit a little tighter that stock tanks, but I've not seen issues with them.

Has anyone installed this? Comments? I helped a friend install one and had to place rubber pads under the plastic brace at the top of the tank under the metal strap. The metal seam is way too big, the alternative was to grind the seam down the fit the bracket which I thought was not a good option. I considered replacing my tank but I decided just to have my original cleaned and sand blasted by a radiator shop that specializes in hot rods, I’m happy with the results. Price for the cleaning was the same as the new Dansk tank. |
