There is a reason the factory did certain things. Other reasons it might be undrivable, can't see a shift rod, no clutch cable, and no speedo cable. Must be a work in progress.
Got to keep up with those design changes.

In factory form it shouldn't, flanges have different bolt locations.

Guessing they drilled the HEs or replaced the flanges completely as the factory 1.7 muffler has studs.

That 914 has far too much intact sheet metal for BHCC. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/screwy.gif)

I thinkbthar muffler is a 1974 1 8 with the bolt on exhaust tip. But still how?
I once went to a muffler shop called M & F Muffler. They told me it stood for "make it fit"

They did.
I think they welded the heat exchanger to the muffler.sinlet flange. Note the open hole in the HE flange. Kustom fit. A BHCC concour car.
Gaskets? We don't need no stinken gaskets.

If thats true I am without words. Those SS HEs look new-ish...better to not have done anything rather than damage good parts.

A knowledgeable buyer should look this car over very carefully. It may not be a complete car, just a tub with some mismatched parts more or less attached to it.

I noticed the write up on it is copy pasted from their previous CS, which had brown interior and dual mirrors. This car does has neither but it does have the 75-76 door panels and who know what else. The dash gauges look nice.

They do mention it is a non-running project car.

imagine the torque that must be twisting the head studs to get that muffler lined up.

That was what is puzzling. The 1.7/1.8 HE ends/muffler mounts are ~1.5 inches wider than the 2.0L HE ends/muffler mounts.

Easy. Center the muffler over the heat exchangers. Ignore that nothing lines up.
Weld muffler to heat exchangers.
Wal la! Done.

Zoom in on the pictures and you can see the heat exchanger flanges extending inward beyond the muffler flanges.

Zoom in on the muffler to heat exchanger flange. They welded them together. Exit holes on the HEs will cover half of the muffler inlet holes. And was needs gaskets.
