I dont really have room in the garage for a two post lift.. so I figure a scissor lift might be better... let me know what you think. My ceiling is 11 feet and don't want to spend more than 2000 ish... or am i out to lunch...

In my last home I did a mid-rise scissor lift, BendPak, and I loved it. Sunk into garage floor so when it was down, totally flush with the floor- no trip hazard. We ran the hydraulic lines in the floor too. Mounted the mechanicals under a counter in a cabinet and the only thing you saw was a control panel with the controls on the side of a cabinet. Very low-profile, clean install.

If you send me your email address I can send you photos.
Cheers,
Michael (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

I have QuickJacks and love them. I don't like sissor lifts because they block so much of the underside, they are HEAVY and take up a lot of room.

Price aside, have you looked at MaxJacks? Portable 2-post that work with low ceilings.

Can you do valve adjustments with this lift? Looks like the side bars block that area

How about a used 4-post lift? 11ft clear is sufficient and a 4-post gives you storage space and great access from below.

In the past have had a scissors lift (titan), and now have a quick Jack. They both have their place, including every other lift listed. Personally, quick jacks are great for a guy like me, weekend warrior, small maintenance projects, if I where doing more serious repairs, restoration, rebuilding,or had multiple cars, I would consider something more robust like a MaxJack, 4 post, or scissors again. Just my .02 as most have said, any lift is better than a floor Jack…

I’ve been looking for a lift also, and found this one at Harbor Freight for $2000.

Yeah, most likely every unit like this is made by the same manufacturer.

I got a two post Chinese lift off ebay. Think it was about 1500 delivered. Installed in a half day. Really well built. My son is a mechanic and uses it a lot. Never had any problems with it. Very good safety devices to keep it from coming down at the wrong time. Did build some wood pads to elevate the low slung cars.

Yes you can. I have 2 different length crossbars (not the aluminum rails you see). Depending on what I am doing I run the aluminum rails on the sides of the car, or sometimes turned 90°. The EZ lift is 120#s. I stand mine against the wall when I am not using it.

I bought a used Rotary 4 post. Installation under a 10.5’ ceiling was a pretty straight forward one man job. IIRC required renting a hammer drill for putting holes in garage floor. Other tools like a good (laser’s best) level, plumb bob (I used to check level accuracy), are recommended.

Still in my garage but not set up now, but miss it almost every day. Very useful for storing and / or working on cars.

Having a 914’s a plus due to its low height.

Something to keep in mind when comparing the height stack up of cars and lift (for storage use) to ceiling height, it’s important to subtract the total floor slope from the ceiling height. Builders typically build in a slope for water drainage. If I’d considered this beforehand, I would have insisted on a zero slope floor.

Another vote for harbor freight.
Had mine for 20 years.
Dozens of 911 912 356 914 had brake suspension or engine work done over the years.
One of the best tools I ever bought.
