Has anyone purchased a 914 6 clutch cable recently ?
The original part number was 914 423 401 02 and the cable was 3.5 mm
My older Gemos still in original packaging with the '6' part number are 3,0mm (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
(the 4 cyl. was 914 423 401 05 and the wire was 3.0mm)
There is a recent number 914 043 401 08...anyone have experience with it ?
Fingers crossed.
PS Not interested in terry cables

I recently purchased 914-423-401-08 Gemo manufactured from Pelican.

The length looked good to me, but I did not think to check the diameter. I may be back with the car in a week and can take a measurement.

A couple weeks ago I bought what was advertised as NOS GEMO and had the part
number on a tag with it. I haven't installed it yet so it was easy to measure, and it's
3.0 mm.

Hey Mark, that sounds like the two Gemo 914 423 104 02s I've have for many years.
Porsche offers 914 423 401 08 for ~$150. !
Lets see what arrives.

Just curious why would a -6 cable be different than a -4? Same everything as far as mounting and length. I can understand that it might be larger 3.5mm just because things were made more heavy duty, the transmission mounts are a good example.

I agree Mark
Not only length and mounting but also clutch disc size and (I think) pressure
plate strength.
Porsche clearly had different part numbers and diffrent spec from the beginning.
Plus...I want the right part ! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Clutch disc size? Not diameter but maybe possibly thickness

Clutch pressure plate are the same. Original -6 disc was the same size, only 6 springs, the -4 was only 4 springs. Now only 6 spring disc are available.

Resurrecting an older post. Was anyone able to conclude the differences between -05 (914-4) and -08 (914-6) part numbers? Need to order a replacement, and I'm perplexed why there isn't one common cable for both. Doesn't seem To be a reason for a difference given that the installations are identical and the pressure plates are the same.

Hard to say. Probably going to be hit or miss. The specifications probably have changed, not knowing what the originals were. Try for old NOS one if available.
