In anticipation of getting my new-to-me 914-6, I know it'll need the seats recovered.

Anyone have any source for custom recover kits?

I want the Hounds Tooth for the inset and black vinyl for the bulsters.

Go tartan/plaid. But I am biased. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Auto Atlanta has kits, so does this place:

http://www.aaaupholster.com/porsche-914-fr...1419751976.html

$349 on sale seems pretty good.

But I'm hoping to lose the hot/black vinyl. Would love some sort of cloth.

914rubber has both tartan and houndstooth kits. Tartan costs a bit more but it was a factory 914 option.

I installed the 914Rubber kit and the silver plaid is a hit with my wife as she can wear shorts now in the car.

Geoff, that's the ticket! Can wear shorts and sit down without frying the legs.

914Rubber, of course, thanks!

Neither was available on the 914-6. Only MY75 and 76 914s had plaid available, AFAIK. None had houndstooth. Although the houndstooth ones I’ve seen (aftermarket kit) look great.

of course actually a real 914-6 is so valuable it should be made back to its original factory configuration.

It's a converted six, I didn't buy an original 914-6 for that exact reason. I've also used Autos International before = very high quality products.

Hey Root,
Just order 2 yards of the Tartan cloth you like from SMS. Then go to any skilled upholsterer in your area. They can do both the cloth and vinyl redo without any problem.
